Nijukken Road

Nijukken Road
Nijukken Road, on the southern coast of Hokkaido, is a cherry blossom viewing spot in the town of Shin-hidaka. The history of Nijukken Road dates back to the early 1900s. In 1903, the road was made to prepare for the visit of the imperial family. About 70 percent of the cherry blossoms are ezoyamazakura and its soft pink flowers. They begin to blossom in May, which is also when the Shizunai Sakura Festival is held here at Nijukken Road. Throughout the year, other festivals such as the Shin-Hidaka Summer Festival, are held in the town.
