Mount Yotei
Mount Yotei
Mount Yotei is located in southwestern Hokkaido, and measures 1,898 meters tall. It is nicknamed “Ezo-Fuji”, since it is in Ezo (former name for Hokkaido) and has a shape similar to that of Mount Fuji. The mountain is a popular hiking spot, both in the summer and winter months. There are four routes to choose from, and hikers of all levels are welcome to climb Mount Yotei. At the peak, there is a hut where you can spend the night. It is open from June to October. The mountain borders five towns: Kutcharo, Kyogoku, Kimobetsu, Makkari and Niseko. Each town has their own unique sightseeing and activity spots, such as Niseko’s ski slopes and Kyogoku’s springs.
