Lake Towada

Lake Towada
Lake Towada spreads across Aomori and Akita prefectures, and is a part of the Towada Hachimantai National Park. There are several sightseeing spots at Lake Towada. One is Ebisu-Daikoku Island, an island made of molten lava that lies on the lake. Another is Towada Shrine, which is known to be a spiritual power spot. There is a guided tour of the shrine, where a local guide explains to you the history and legends behind Towada Shrine. In the winter months, the Lake Towada’s Winter Story event is held. During the event, snow sculptures are displayed and some areas around the lake are lit up. There is even a fireworks display, too.
