Yosegi Zaiku Hatake-no Tea House

Hatake-no Tea House is located in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture. Hatajuku is said to be the area of Hakone where Yosegi Zaiku was born. This shop where wooden mosaic crafts can be purchased and experienced has stood here for 40 years.
Hatake-no Tea House first opened as a tea house, but transformed to a specialty shop as more and more visitors came looking for Yosegi Zaiku. Inside its seasoned walls are rows of the wooden mosaic items, including chopstick rests with patterns only available here.
On some days, it is possible to watch a craftsman at work in the corner of the shop. Come visit for a chance to see the magic up close. Or experience it yourself in the coaster making workshop by making your own original coaster from scratch.
