artless craft tea & coffee
artless craft tea & coffee
Tokyo is full of quirky places to have coffee, like this tiny cafe under the train tracks of Nakameguro Station. "artless craft tea & coffee" is a tea and coffee stand inside the Nakameguro Koukashita complex, which opened in 2012. It is It is run by a design and branding agency located next door, and is the brainchild of its director artist, Shun Kawakami. It has the feel of a modern tearoom with a calm, zen-like vibe. The underlying theme of this cafe is "craft." The shop carefully selects coffee beans and tea leaves from small-scale farms and prepares them by hand. The coffee is hand-dripped, while the tea is brewed in special cast iron teapots. There is something fascinating about the way the staff work… come and see for yourself. The food items pair well with both coffee and tea, and the menu is shuffled around from time to time. In addition to good drinks and food, they also sell artisanal handcrafts. Our favorite item is the leather coffee sleeve created by the shop owner, who was once a shoemaker.
