Goto Confectionery "Ishibotoke Kaikan"

Gotou Confectionery is located in Usuki city, Oita prefecture. It is next to the Usuki Stone Buddha, designated a National Treasure, and has been in business for over 100 years.                                                                                                                                                                         The Gotou Confectionery's specialty is the "Usuki senbei". It is a crunchy cracker made of flour with a syrup coated surface. This specialty of Usuki City is finished and syrup-coated one at a time by hand. Usuki city used to be one of the biggest producers for ginger, and the Usuki Senbei honors this by using ginger in its recipe too. The slight taste of ginger makes for a good accent in the flavor. A picture of the Usuki Stone Buddha decorates the packaging, making it a great souvenir too.
In 2019, Gotou Confectionery launched a new brand "Ikusu Atio" to commemorate 100 years since its founding. While honoring their long history, the store continues to explore new frontiers by incorporating chocolate and organic ginger into their new products.
