Kaisei-yu Public Bath
Kaisei-yu Public Bath
Kaisei-yu is located in the Nishi Kamata area of Ota ward, Tokyo. It is a public bath that opened in 1929 where you can enjoy natural "black" hot springs. Remodeled in 2011, Kaisei-yu’s most defining characteristic is an aquarium in the bathing room in which carp and goldfish swim. Over many years, Kaisei-yu has familiarized visitors with itself as the "bathhouse where fish live".
The surrounding Kamata area has a concentration of "black" hot springs, whose dark color is brought by their high content of underground deposits and humic acid. Among the many public baths of the Kamata area that channel this black water, Kaisei-yu's natural hot spring boasts an exceptionally high concentration.
In addition to this natural black hot spring, Kaisei-yu offers a "black carbonated bath" - their original mixture between the black spring and carbon gas - and "silk bath" - a bath filled with ion-charged minuscule bubbles.
The facility also has amenities such as a booths for hair dyeing in a corner of the bathing area, and washing machines and dryers in the changing room.
