Hasunuma Onsen Public Bath
Hasunuma Onsen Public Bath
Hasunuma Onsen is in Ota-ku, Tokyo. This public bath draws its bathwater from natural hot springs, and is located in the Kamata area - a region known for having a concentration of natural hot springs in Tokyo.
The Kamata area is known for its "black" hot springs, whose dark colors is brought by a high concentration of underground deposits and humic acid. Hasunuma Onsen's bath is a brown-hued, sodium chloride hydrogen bicarbonate spring. This hot spring has gained popularity for its moisturizing, skin-nourishing effects.
In 2017, the building was reborn as a retro-themed space with a Taisho era aesthetic. The remodeled building represents Japanese culture and technology with plaster walls and a traditional lattice ceilings. At the same time, the latest technology is adopted to entertain customers with a digitally projected pond on the lounge floor.
On the other hand, the bath house does not forget to please its regular customers by preserving the wall tile mosaic of a waterfall, which has been a symbol of Hasunuma Onsen since its opening. Let the hot springs soak into your skin, as you enjoy the waterfall mosaic on the wall that straddles both the men's and women's baths.
