Tsukayama Brewery
Tsukayama Brewery
Tsukayama Brewery is located in Nago City of northern Okinawa. It is the only Awamori brewery that has kept its architecture from before the Second World War. One of the charming characteristics of Tsukayama Brewery is its Okinawan red tile-roof and wooden architecture. It was built around 1928 and has been preserved to this day, after surviving the Second World War. It is among the largest in its scale among Okinawa's surviving pre-Second World War architecture, and is designated as one of Japan’s National Important Cultural Properties. Their flagship item is an Awamori liquor, called Kokka. They offer 2 grades of alcohol percentage, 43 percent and 30 per cent. Every process involved with making the Awamori, from brewing to labeling, is hand-done. Their Awamori is popular for its mild taste and rich flavor, and is offered at many restaurants and bars in Okinawa. They offer a brewery tour, which allows you to taste Awamori in the historic brewery. If you are coming in a group of 15 or less, a reservation is not required.
