Saruka Shrine, in Hirakawa, Aomori, is said to be made during the Heian Period (794 – 1185). The shrine is said to bring luck in fishery, travel and eyesight. During the Saruka Shrine Jugoya Festival in mid October is a popular event for locals and tourists. On the shrine ground are two lakes, and you can cruise around the area in a swan boat.
