Asuke-Hachimangu Shrine

Asuke Hachimangu Shrine, located in the town of Asuke in Aichi prefecture, is said to have been built around 1,300 years ago. The main hall, built during the Muromachi period (1336 – 1573), is designated as a national important cultural property. The temple is also home to an ema (wooden luck charm), depicting a rifle, made in 1611, and it is one of the very few rifle-design ema remaining today. Every August, the Asuke Festival is held at this temple. The main attractions of the festival are the four huge, decorated floats and the matchlock guns.
