Sankei Garden is an enormous Japanese garden of 175,000m², and is located in the southern east part of Yokohama City. This garden was opened in 1906 by Sankei Hara, a businessman who traded raw silk. Sankei Garden is listed in Japan's 10 Nationally Important Cultural Properties and in the City's 3 Important Cultural Properties. It is a popular sightseeing spot because of its tasteful details and beautiful landscape. Inside the garden, there is a variety of flowers that bloom all year round. In the spring, there are cherry blossoms and azaleas. In the fall, the leaves of the trees turn into a breathtaking red color. Also, aside from the garden itself, the restaurants and memorial hall are places that are must sees. In the Sankei Memorial Hall, documents related to the founder, Sankei Haru, are displayed, and visitors can purchase exclusive souvenirs. At the Matcha Tea Shop, visitors can enjoy the Japanese atmosphere while drinking authentic matcha for 500 yen a pot.
