Yamashita Park, in the port city of Yokohama, was 1930. The park was built on reclaimed land that was damaged from the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923. The park has a spacious area of 75,000 square meters, and it is famous for is walkway by the waters, huge stairs and more unique characteristics. From the park, famous sights such as the Yokohama Bay Bridge and the Minatomirai Area can be seen. Yokohama was a significant trade port, since it opened in 1859 for international trade. At Yamashita Park, you can find memorials from overseas, such as one from the city of San Diego in California, and one from the Indian community residing in Japan. Around 2,500 roses are planted throughout the park. You can sit on the park benches and enjoy the roses and the stunning view of Yokohama.
