Lake Ashinoko

Lake Ashinoko locates on in western Kanagawa, in the town of Hakone. It is a caldera lake on Mount Hakone, with a circumference of 20 kilometers. The lake was made 3,000 ago after Mount Hakone erupted. The lake is known as a Mount Fuji viewing spot. From the cedar path, you can see Mount Fuji and its reflection on Lake Ashinoko. In the lake are fish such as trout and smelt, and you can fish them during the right seasons. In 1966, Ashinoko Onsen hot springs opened. Since then, Lake Ashinoko has been a popular nature and hot springs resort.
