Kottaro Marsh locates in eastern Hokkaido’s town of Shibecha. The whole wetland measures bigger than all of Tokyo. These wetlands are known as the nesting area for Japanese cranes. From the Kottaro Marsh Observatory, you might be able to see the cranes. The cranes come to the wetland in spring to nest. You can find other rare creatures such as the Iijima common hawker dragonfly. The marsh lies by the Kushiro River. During the summer, you can enjoy activities such as canoeing and rafting.
