Outer View of Okada Museum of Arts

Okada Museum of Art is located in Hakone-machi, Kanagawa Prefecture. The 5-story museum building constantly offers an exhibition of about 450 Eastern-style art works from extensive periods. Some works includes pottery, folding screens, and hanging scrolls mainly from Japan, China, and South Korea. The museum’s symbolic work is the large mural painting on its front side, “Kaze-Toki (Wind and Time).” It’s a 12m×30m masterpiece by a Japanese-style painter, Mr. Kotaro Fukui. The work is a creative reproduction on 640 golden panels of “Fujin Raijin Zu" (the Folding Screen of Wind God and Thunder God) by Tawaraya Sotatsu. It has been designated as a national treasure of Japan. The museum also has a footbath café that offers 100-percent natural hot springs from Hakone. At this café, you can enjoy beer and soft serve ice cream while seeing this magnificent mural. In addition to the museum, the extensive property has a must-visit cafeteria, a Japanese-style garden, and museum shops.
