Yosegi Zaiku Sekiho Karakuri Museum
The Hakone Yosegi Zaiku Sekisho Karakuri Museum is located in Hakone Sekisho in Ashigarashimo-gun, Kanagawa Prefecture. The museum has a large number of gimmick works to which the Yosegi and Kumiki techniques are applied, including items of Yosegi Zaiku, a traditional crafting technique that originated in Hakone. On the other side of the gimmick door which won’t open even if you turn around the doorknob, so many works are exhibited, including puzzle boxes that can’t be opened in conventional ways. At the same time, the museum sells items of Yosegi Zaiku. At Hakone Maruyama Bussan across the street from the museum, you can also book a puzzle-box-making session at the museum.
