Hyon Noki Pottery Studio
Hyon Noki Pottery Studio is located in Korinbo in central Kanazawa. The Kutaniyaki studio makes use of a 150-year-old samurai residence. Visitors can watch how Kutaniyaki is made, purchase a beautiful handmade Kutani piece, or join a coloring workshop to make their own Kutanyaki. The residence and mud walls are registered Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan. Soft sunlight pours into the studio through the leaves of the 200-year-old hyon tree (witch hazel family)standing in the yard. Many casual events are held here, like concerts, tea parties, and potlucks that anyone can join. Enjoy your Kanazawa trip with a visit here to hang with the locals.
