Nomura Family Samurai House
Nomura Family Samurai House
The Nomura Samurai Family House, located in Kanazawa, was built in the 1800s as a mansion for the wealthy Nomura family. They were a clan of upper-class samurai, and served Maeda Toshiie, the leader of the Kaga domain (present-day Ishikawa prefecture).
The Japanese-style garden is a popular site at the mansion, and is known for its creative and clever design that makes it look beautiful from any angle. In fact, the garden was picked as the third best garden by the Journal of Japanese Gardening in 2003. The entire mansion, too, was awarded two stars on the Michelin Green Guide.
