Yaoyoroz Honpo

Yaoyoroz Honpo can be found in Kanazawa, a city in the central region of Ishikawa Prefecture.  This concept shop opened in 2015 as a place where all people, items, and ideas could gather.  Built by renovating the old townhouse that was once the Shimura Hardware Store, the store front keeps the historically bustling atmosphere that has surrounded Kanazawa since the Edo Period.  In contrast to its traditional exterior, the items within Yaoyoroz Honpo have a modern characteristic.  The six shops housed here offer the top picks of a wide variety of goods including novelties, souvenirs, and snacks. There is the café & select shop “titi", the tableware and artwork shop “Secca", a shop that specializes in preserved foods “Stoock", a shop featuring notable works from the Noto Peninsula “Noto Style Store", and a shop featuring local mascot character goods “Hyakumansan no Ie.” The last shop, “KUTANI SEAL,” has a workshop where visitors can get a hands-on experience of the traditional Kutaniyaki craft by using stickers with fun designs to make their own Kutani porcelain.
