The Hakone Museum of Art, locating in the town of Hakone in Kanagawa, was founded in 1952. It is the oldest museum in Hakone. Their collection mainly consists of works of pottery from the Jomon period (14,000 – 300 BC) to the Edo period (1603 – 1867). Once in a while, they hold special exhibits as well. The Japanese garden in the museum premise has over 200 maple trees and over 130 types of mosses. Autumn is a great season to visit the Hakone Museum of Art, since they host a number of autumn events.
