Cape Oma

Cape Oma
Cape Oma is the northernmost point on the Honshu, Japan’s main island. It is only 17.5 kilometers to Hokkaido from Cape Oma. From here, you can get a great view of the Tsugaru Strait, Mount Hakodate and the city of Hakodate. One of the must-see spots here is the tuna monument. It is made after the 440-kilogram Pacific Bluefin tuna that was fished up in 1994, here in Oma. You can also find a monument that marks Oma as the northernmost point in Honshu, and nearby is a tourist information center and the Omazaki Rest House. On the second floor of the information center, you can purchase a certificate of proof that you came to the northernmost point in Honshu. At the restaurants in the area, you can have the Oma Tuna, a regional delicacy that is known nationwide.
