Omasaki Lighthouse
Omasaki Lighthouse
Omasaki Lighthouse locates on Benten Island, which lies 600 meters away from Cape Oma, the northernmost point on Honshu (Japan’s main island). The 37 meter tall lighthouse is characterized by its white and black striped pattern. It was made in 1920 to navigate the ships crossing the Tsugaru Strait. The lighthouse has been chosen as one of Japan’s top 50 lighthouses. There are no public transportation ferry options to get to Benten Island, so you must go on a fishing boat to do so. Other than the lighthouse, Benten Island is known to have over 20,000 seagulls.
