Tsuta Onsen locates in Towada city in southern Aomori. The hot spring has been loved by famous Japanese writers throughout history as a place of relaxation and rejuvenation. With water flowing from Oirase Gorge and the Hakkoda Mountains surrounding the area, Tsuta Onsen is rich in nature. There is one accommodation at Tsuta Onsen, called Tsuta Onsen Ryokan. There, you can bathe in Tsuta Onsen’s fresh, hot waters and enjoy meals made from local ingredients. A museum dedicated to writer Omachi Keitgetsu, known for making Lake Towada and Oirase Gorge known throughout Japan, can be found in the Tsuta Onsen area. At Oirase Gorge and Lake Towada, visitors can join in on guided tours. In the winter, the “Lake Towada Winter’s Story” illumination art event is very popular.
