Kiga Hot Spring
Kiga Hot Spring
Kiga Hot Spring is located in Hakone-machi of southeastern Kanagawa Prefecture. This hot spring resort overlooks Hayakawa Valley and is famous for its autumn leaves. It once attracted as many visitors as one of the "Hakone Nana Yu" and the "Hakone Ju-nana Yu." This hot spring was opened around the end of Heian era to the beginning of Kamakura era, which was the second to open among the Hakone Nana Yu. It is said that during the Edo period, it became a popular hot spring as a kodakara (blessing women with many children) hot spring and was dedicated to Edo Castle. Currently, the source is almost dead, therefore, no existing inn offers the Kiga Hot Spring. However, you can still see white steam coming up in the "Kiga Hot Spring Resort" on the national highway 138.
