Owakudani Hot Spring

"Owakudani Hot Spring" is an extensive hot spring source in Owakudani in Hakone-machi, Kanagawa Prefecture. Owakudani is a volcano trace where the Hakone Volcano erupted about 3000 years ago. Owakudani Hot Spring is one of the "Hakone Niju-yu." This is an artificial hot sping that was created by adding water to volcanic steam of Owakudani. Owakudani has a rich supply of hot spring, which is distributed to hot springs all over Hakone. The spring quality of Owakudani Hot Spring is acidic (pH 2.5) sulfate. Hot acidic water is highly sterilizing and has a healing effect on cuts, acne and skin diseases. It is also effective for assuaging neuralgia, muscle aches and healing fatigue.
