    Tsuta Numa Lake Tsuta Numa Lake is one of the Seven Tsuta Lakes in Aomori prefecture. The lake locates at the foot of Mount Hakkoda, and is well known for its waters’ incredible clarity. The clear waters serve as a reflective mirror during the fall foliage season, when the surrounding beech trees change into stunning shades of reds and oranges. Around the Seven Tsuta Lakes is a 2.8-kilometer long path that is perfect for a walk. Take your time around the lakes and observe all of the nature and wildlife around you. After your walk, you can visit Tsuta Onsen hot springs and unwind.

    Oirase Gorge Oirase Gorge’s waters are amazingly transparent and mesmerizing, and it has been designated as a national natural monument. The 14-kilometer gorge is surrounded by rich nature, and is a beauty year-round. Hike by the gorge and find many waterfalls and rapids waiting. The gorge begins at the very base of Mount Hakkoda and continues into Lake Towada in southern Aomori.

    Ne-jo Castle Though the original Ne-jo Castle was destroyed in 1592, you can tour its remains and the reconstructed version of it. The castle was made in 1334, and the current remake resembles its original form from those days. It is designated as a National Historic Site, and some of the original castle's ruins still remain to this day.

There are five trekking courses to choose from, ranging from beginner to advanced levels. Visit in the warmer months for a climb up to the peak, and come back again in the winter for a ski trip.

    Hirosaki Park Hirosaki Park sits in the middle of the city of Hirosaki. It surrounds the remains of Hirosaki Castle, which was active until the end of the Edo period (1603 – 1867). The park is known nationwide for its 2,600 cherry blossoms in the spring. They are everywhere in the park – by the moat, near the castle, and so forth. Over 2 million visitors rush to Hirosaki Park every April to see the cherry blossoms.

    Nebuta Festival Aomori Nebuta Festival takes place every year from August 2nd to the 7th. Along with Akita Kanto Festival and Sendai Tanabata Festival, the Nebuta Festival is one of the big 3 festivals in the north eastern region of Japan. Although not confirmed, it is said that the drowsiness from the Tanabata Festival will be driven out with the "drowsiness drowning". What attracts over 30 million people ever year are the 5 meter tall doll float, Dashi, and the Haneto, the dancers that dance around the float. The sight of the performance made completely by the local people is truly a sight to see. You will feel a heat hotter than that of mid-summer in Japan. On the last day of the festival, there is a firework show, the Aomori Hanabi Taikai, The combination of the festival and fireworks only happens on this day!     Resort Shirakami Resort Shirakami is a scenic train that runs between Akita Station and Aomori Station in the Tohoku region. It began its operation in 1997. Traditional performances and events are held on the train, such as a puppet show, storytelling and a live shamisen performance. You can enjoy these performances while having a delicious lunch box meal, stuffed with Shirakami wagyu beef, scallops and more. In the train, you can purchase drinks such as locally brewed beer and apple juice. If you’re looking for some amazing nature views, stop at Juniko Station, which is one of the stops on Resort Shirakami. There, you can find Aoike Pond, which is famous for its stunning blue color.
