Yufuin Floral Park Yufuin Floral Village is a mini-theme park that is inspired by the Cotswold region of England, which was the filming location for the “Harry Potter” movie series. Inside, you can find cute shops such as “Kiki’s Bakery” (modeled after one in the Ghibli film, “Kiki’s Delivery Service”), and “The Rabbit”, which sells Peter Rabbit goods. At the petting zoo inside, you can pet animals like cats and owls. You can also relax at Yufuin Floral Village’s footbath facility at the end of your day.

Lake Kinrin Lake Kinrinko in the town of Yufuin in Oita is famous for its mystical views. The lake’s water is a mixture of cold and hot spring water, causing steam to rise from the lake’s surface. The steam can be seen the best in autumn and winter mornings. Right by the lake is Tenso-jinja Shrine, and its torii gates stand in the lake’s waters. The shrine’s chozu-ya (place for washing hands/mouth) water is pulled from Lake Kinrinko.

Blood Pond Hell Blood Pond Hell, in the hot spring town of Beppu, is a spring that is blood red. It has existed for over 1,300 years, and its color is said to be a result of some chemical reaction occurring underground. At the shop in front of Blood Pond Hell, a special ointment using the substances from the spring is sold. The ointment is said to help with pimples, and many people come back to purchase this ointment from all over Japan.

Yufuin Chagall Museum Yufuin Chagall Museum (Marc Chagall Yufuin Kinrinko Museum) located in Yufu City, Oita Prefecture, exhibits artworks by the French artist Marc Chagall, known as the "Painter of Love". The museum's collection is centered on the lithograph artworks by Chagall. The works show Chagall's vibrant choices of colors, and a particular somber yet mystical worldview that is characteristic of his paintings. Inside the museum there is a cafe terrace named CAFE LA RUCHE. The terrace seats here have a full view of Kinrinko Lake, and the menu offers home-made breads and cakes that are perfect for a fancy breakfast, or afternoon tea.
Yunotsubo-Kaido Yunotsubo-Kaido, in the onsen town of Yufuin, is a street packed with unique shops and food vendors. Here, you can find stylish cafes, souvenir shops, antique stores and more. For lunch at Yunotsubo-Kaido, you can either snack on street food or dine at a nice cafe. The street is perfect for a pre or post-bath walk.

Unaguhime-jinja Shrine Unaguhime Shrine, located in the town of Yufuin in Oita prefecture, is famous as one of the stops for the Scarborough cabs and the horse carriages. When people began moving into the area of Yufuin, they were having trouble with the poor flood control. It is said that an unagi, or eel, was enshrined and worshipped at this shrine to help with the flood control, and that is how the name of the shrine originated. You can find the Ogosho-no-Osugi cedar tree about a 15-minute walk from the shrine. The tree is 1,000 years old, and designated as a national natural monument.

Umi-jigoku Umi-jigoku is the largest hot springs facility in Beppu. However, the cobalt blue waters are at almost-boiling temperatures and are never to be entered. The footbath located in the facility is free of charge. You can enjoy a post-onsen pudding that is steamed from the hot spring's steam for just ¥300.

COMICO ART MUSEUM YUFUIN COMICO ART MUSEUM YUFUIN is in Yufuin City, Oita Prefecture. The art museum standing in Japan’s popular hot spring resort of Yufuin fuses contemporary art with Yufuin’s nature, and entry is by reservation only. The museum is the brainchild of the comprehensive entertainment platform comico, which publishes online comics and other content such as manga comics, novels and films. Architect Kengo Kuma, who was in charge of the design, created a completely new art facility in Yufuin's nature-rich, bucolic landscape. The museum has 3 indoor galleries; “GALLERY I” showcases the work of the globally active artist, Takashi Murakami. “GALLERY II” displays a collection of works titled “Seascapes” by the artist Hiroshi Sugimoto. The “OPEN GALLERY” exhibits Yoshimoto Nara’s massive art installation titled “Your Dog”. The exhibits can be viewed by joining an hour-long guided tour, and visitors are required to make online reservations to enter the museum. Kumano Magaibutsu Stone Buddha The Kumano Magaibutsu Stone Buddha is a work from the end of the Heian period (794 - 1185), and is a National Important Cultural Property. The statue on the left measures 8 meters tall, and the one on the right is 6.8 meters tall. Visitors must climb 99 steps up to reach these statues, and it is recommended to use a branch as a cane for support. Climb further up to reach Kumano Shrine.

Oita Castle Ruin Park Oita Castle Ruin Park locates right by the Oita Castle’s castle keep area. Also known as Funai Castle, the castle was built in 1579 for feudal lord Takenaka Shigetoshi, who ruled the area. The park is known for its over 70 cherry blossom trees that blossom every April. During cherry blossoms season, the castle lights up to create an ethereal view.

Beppu Tower Viewing Platform Beppu Tower was built in 1957 as a television Tower, and is the third oldest large-scale tower built in Japan. Today, it stands as a landmark of the city of Beppu. The 90-meter tower has cafes, restaurants and even a karaoke lounge inside. You can climb up to the observatory for a beautiful view of the entire city.

Shitan-yu Shitan-yu locates just by Lake Kinrinko in the onsen town of Yufuin. It is designated as one of the “Yufuin Onsen”, which is collectively registered as a People’s Recreation Spa. Since it locates right next to Lake Kinrinko, you can visit Shitan-yu in the autumn or winter mornings to see the lake’s steam rise beautifully. The bath is a co-ed bath without any designated changing rooms, and provides a traditional, simple onsen experience. At the rotemburo (outdoor bath), you can feel like you’re bathing right in the middle of nature.

Beppu Rakutenchi Beppu Rakutenchi is an amusement park located on top of a mountain. From the park, you can see a lovely view of the entire city of Beppu. To get to Rakutenchi, you must take a cable car that goes up the steep hillside. Aside from rides, you can also have fun with animals at the petting zoo and even take a bath at the park’s hot springs facility.

Mount Yufu Mount Yufu is a 1584-meter tall mountain in Oita prefecture. The mountain has been featured in many ancient Japanese works of literature, and is still a prominent symbol of the region. The entire park is designated as a part of the Aso Kuju National Park. Driving to the mountain is recommended, as you can see the beautiful surrounding scenery on your way there.
