Umi-jigoku Umi-jigoku is the largest hot springs facility in Beppu. However, the cobalt blue waters are at almost-boiling temperatures and are never to be entered. Beppu Tower Viewing Platform Beppu Tower was built in 1957 as a television Tower, and is the third oldest large-scale tower built in Japan. Today, it stands as a landmark of the city of Beppu. The 90-meter tower has cafes, restaurants and even a karaoke lounge inside. You can climb up to the observatory for a beautiful view of the entire city.
