    Hakone Tozan Cable Car The Hakone Cable Car operates in the Hakone area of Ashigarashimo District, Kanagawa Prefecture. The Cable Car connects the first stop of the Hakone Railway, Souzan Station, and the last stop, Gora Station. The small cable car consisting of two cars stops at Sounzan Station, Kami-gora Station, Naka-gora Station, Koen-kami Station, Koen-shimo Station, and Gora Station. The Cable Car runs the approximate 1.2-km distance between Sounzan Station and Gora Station in about 9 minutes. From the windows of the Cable Car, you can see views of Hakone, which vary from season to season. How about enjoying seasonal views of Hakone while on the relaxed ride on the steep slope?

    Hakone Ropeway The Hakone Ropeway runs between Togendai Station and Souzan Station in Hakone town , Kanagawa Prefecture. The ropeway, which holds up to 18 people, runs every minute, stopping at Togendai Station, Ubako Station, Owakudani Station, and Souzan Station. The stop at the highest altitude of about 130 meters extensively overlooks towns in Hakone and Mount Fuji, which looks different in the four seasons. The most recommended of all the stops is the second, Owakudani Station. Right outside the station is Owakudani, also known as “Jigoku Dani (Hell Valley),” which has an active volcano even today. Also, at the station, you can purchase black eggs that were boiled in hot springs in Owakudani. It is believed that eating one of these eggs will extend your life by 7 years. Therefore, it is highly recommended to try this famous food during your trip.

    Owakudani Kurotamago-kan Owakudani Kudotamago-kan is located in the Hakone area of the Ashigarashimo Disrict, Kanagawa Prefecture. The facility is a short walk away from Owakudani Station (the Hakone Ropeway) and it stands next to Owakudani. As the name suggests, Kurotamago means black egg in Japanese, and you can purchase the famous black eggs from Owakudani in this facility. Five black eggs made on the same day are available for 500 yen. Kurotamagos are boiled in hot springs at about 80 degrees centigrade gushing from Owakudani, and their unique characteristic is their black shells. It is believed that if you have one black egg, you can extend your life by 7 years, and today there are many tourists visiting Owakudani Station to eat the eggs. In addition, there are many souvenirs from the Hakone area at the Kurotama Shop in Kurotamago-kan.You can get Yosegi Zaiku marquetry, traditional crafts that represent Hakone, as well as foods including sweets and kamaboko (Japanese fish cake).

    Zao Ropeway Ride on Zao Ropeway located by Zao Onsen hot springs in southeastern Yamagata! The ropeway connects the foot of Mount Zao (Zao Sanroku Station) to the mountain’s mid-area (Juhyo-Kogen Station) and finally up to the top of the mountain (Jizo Sancho Station). Around Juhyo-Kogen Station, there are many nature spots, such as Iroha-numa Pond and Kansho-daira pine forest. From Jizo Sancho Station, the hiking routes for Mount Zao can be accessed. In the winter, you can see the snow monsters from the ropeway. Snow monsters are trees covered in snow, and an innumerable amount of themcan be found on Mount Zao. After sunset , the snow monsters are lit-up for an extra special view.

    Kunozan Toshogu Shrine Kunouzan Toshogu Shrine locates in Shizuoka City. The first Tokugawa shogun, Ieyasu, is enshrined here. Ieyasu spent his finals years here in current day Shizuoka. “Tosho-gu” points to any shrine that enshrines Ieyasu, and this is the first one out of the many in Japan. The shrine was designated as a National Treasure in 2010 for its outstanding Edo period style architecture. In the museum building, you can find over 2000 artifacts, such as weapons and everyday items, which were used by Ieyasu. You can access the shrine via ropeway or by going up a 1100 step staircase.

    Izunokuni Panorama Park The Izunokuni Panorama Park sits 452 meters high up in the air. Located in Izunokuni City in Shizuoka prefecture, the park provides a beautiful view of Mount Fuji and the Suruga Bay. To the top of the park, you can take a ropeway. On the park grounds, there is a walking course where you can enjoy a 360 view of the Izu peninsula and Mount Fuji. The Fujimi-no-ashiyu footbath is a great way to enjoy the view of Mount Fuji and unwind at the same time.

    Mount Chausu Mount Chasu locates in the Nasu district of Tochigi prefecture. It is the peak of the Mount Nasu range, and measures 1,915 meters high. The mountain is an active volcano, and you can see the smoke puffing out of the peak. You can hike your way up the mountain, or take the ropeway from the foot of the mountain to the peak. Either way, you will be greeted with some breathtaking views. With azaleas in the spring, fresh greenery in the summer, fall foliage in the autumn and a snow-capped peak in the winter, every season is absolutely stunning at Mount Chausu.

    Senko-ji Temple Senkoji Temple, founded in 806, is located in the scenic town of Onomichi. The temple is a part of the famous "temple walk", where visitors try to visit as many temples in Onomichi as they can. The temple and the surround Senkoji Park are located on a hill, providing a marvelous view of the entire city from above.

    Owakudani Owakudani locates in the Sengokubara Area of Hakone in Kanagawa prefecture. The Owakudani area was formed about 3,000 years ago, after Mount Hakone erupted and created a crater. Mount Hakone is still an active volcano, and you can still visually see the volcanic activity at Owakudani. To get an amazing aerial view of Owakudani, take the Hakone Ropway. From the ropeway, you can see Owakudani from above. The aerial view is especially amazing during the autumn season, when the trees on the mountain begin changing colors.

    Senjojiki Cirque "Senjojiki Cirque" straddles Komagane City and Miyata Village, in southern Nagano Prefecture. It is a magnificent glacial landform that spreads beneath Hokendake in the Central Alps. Senjojiki Cirque boasts an altitude of 2,612m, and is a bowl-shaped valley carved out by glaciers during the ice age 20,000 years ago. The magnificent view here from above the clouds can be accessed by anybody via a mountain ropeway. Many photographers visit for photo opportunities.Within the premises is a promenade that takes about 40 minutes to walk, and from here you can enjoy the scenery with the seasonal alpine plants. You can relax and enjoy the nature of the plateau. In the surrounding area, there is Hayataro Onsenkyo hot springs, where a dip in the spring water is said to give beautiful skin. The hot spring is characterized by its lack of odor and color, and has a mellow quality that is soft and moisturizing to the skin. Because it is located at a relatively high altitude in Komagane City, the vast view from the hot spring is also superb.

    Matsuyama Castle Matsuyama Castle is one of the oldest castle in Japan, inherits its traditional architectural style. It is one of the 12 castles which remains the castle tower (天守) built in Edo period. Its main building stands at the top of Mount Katsuyama (132m). You can either walk or use ropeways and lifts to climb up. Around the mountain is a nice calm park with lots of historical sights, and of course beautiful cherry blossoms in spring.
